This programme will be directed primarily towards people associated with churches or with an interest in spirituality, but will also engage local communities generally. It will work by means of a simple, low cost, self-organising process primed by a multifaceted publicity campaign, which utilises the networks of a number of key partners. As a result of the campaign, people will register their interest in Grow Zones and be called together by a local facilitator. At the meeting they will engage with a series of attractively designed and executed DVDs, handbooks, leaflets and facilitator’s notes that explain the 'Grow Zones' process and help them to plan what they would like to have done in their own garden. They will be invited to commit themselves initially to just one season of events, whereby small teams make one visit to each of their gardens. This process will build friendships and elicit a strong educational interest in growing, food preparation and healthy eating. It is anticipated that this will lead on to recommitment in subsequent seasons and engagement with other garden and community spaces.
