About the project
Hello, I'm Kirsty Wilmot!
Local Foods Suffolk is run by Suffolk ACRE, a rural development charity established in 1937 to support and facilitate community action. Three project officers, Kirsty, Mik and Tim, run the project with the support of other experts within the Community Support Team at Suffolk ACRE.
Kirsty lives in Ipswich but works in all of central Suffolk on the Local Foods Suffolk project, primarily with community orchards, food cooperatives and Transition groups. Kirsty is our resident guru on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), belonging to the Oak tree Low Carbon Farm in Rushmere. She also maintains our Local Food Directory of producers and is helping produce a newsletter, and some forthcoming practical factsheets and toolkits.
Kirsty works alongside two part time project officers, Mik and Tim, who work in the East and West of the county respectively. Both Mik and Tim keep smallholdings, advising on livestock management, allotment improvements, lunchclubs and community food enterprises. The three project officers work one-to-one with community groups in their districts, offering tailored support and advice, and are also planning a variety of training events for 2012.
