Composting Community Network
The Community Composting Network is the only UK wide network of not-for-profit community organisations and social enterprises involved with organic wastes collection, processing and use. The network is diverse and includes: home composting and ‘master' composter groups, growers, city farms and gardens, allotment projects, ‘care-farms', conservation groups, housing associations, community cafes, schools, BME groups, regeneration and renewal organisations, and local government authorities in both urban and rural areas. Established in 1995, the network exists both to help and support community groups and to represent them at Government-level negotiations on funding, policy and legislation and has strong links with other Local Food consortium members (via the SPAN project) and other community waste sector networks.
CCN currently has over 200 members, who are linked by a common theme of turning locally arising wastes from being a problem into a means of bettering their communities and environment.
