Dudley School First For Food Funding Nov 13, 2008
A local Dudley school has been cooking up a storm after being awarded £10,000 by Local Food, a new grants programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
The funding has enabled Castle High School to introduce an after school cooking club which is educating pupils and parents about the merits of healthy cooking.

Urban agriculture was top of the agenda at the Growing Food for London conference at City Hall on the 30th June. Local Food was in attendance as a guest speaker, as Project Manager, Mark Wheddon contributed to the debate of how to place urban agriculture at the centre of the development of our cities.

The Changing Spaces schemes are now opening their doors for communities across England to access grants that will help them to enjoy and improve their local natural environment.
Community groups across England are all set to spring clean their neighbourhoods with the launch of a £50 million lottery-funded grants programme.
The Community Spaces programme will provide grants and support to community groups wanting to make their neighbourhoods cleaner and greener. Community Spaces will help local people improve and create play areas, community gardens, parks, wildlife areas, ponds, courts and village greens.

GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL FOOD SCHEMES
Local Food, a new and exciting grants programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund, will be open for applications from 17 March 2008.
The £50 million programme aimed at making locally grown food accessible and affordable to local communities has been developed by a consortium of organisations, and is managed on their behalf by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT).

Charlie Dimmock and top urban chef Oliver Rowe are helping gear up green credentials in the eastern region today. They have teamed up with the BIG Lottery Fund to push out a record-breaking £100 million good cause investment in local food and environment revamp across England.

Local Food is part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme which was launched in November 2005 to help communities enjoy and improve their local environments. The programme funds a range of activities from local food schemes and farmers markets, to education projects teaching people about the local environment.
