Bishop’s House in Darlington is a substantial semi-detached property on Coniscliffe Road, close to the centre of town. The building will be renovated to incorporate an artisan bakery, café and retail area with educational workshops.

Grindon Gardens (GG) will establish a new unique shared community garden for individuals, families and groups in which to work together to grow affordable produce.

This new collaborative project will support and develop the production, promotion and use of locally grown or reared food in the North Pennine Dales.

This project will reconnect children, their families and the wider community with the land as a source of food and to provide fresh locally produced organic meat, eggs and fruit/vegetables by developing the infrastructure to promote sustainable borough wide organic food-growing initiatives.

The Lunchtime Club aims to offer essential life skills to 35 autistic children (in 3 groups) aged 10-16 by encouraging them to think more about food and nutrition so they can take more responsibility for their food choices, promoting their independence and a healthier lifestyle.

This project will help to develop an allotment/herb and working garden within the school, the work for which will be undertaken by the children themselves and teaching staff, working with the community group.

Pennywell Youth Project is looking to develop community allotment and market garden facilities.

North East England Farmers’ Markets (NEEFM) is a new social enterprise and its membership will be organisations managing Farmers’ Markets.

New initiative Pukka Tucker will enable young people aged 13-25 from the most disadvantaged wards within the Tees Valley area to research the food they eat, explore where it comes from and consider personal well-being.
From Plot To Pot will be a Community Food Growing project that aims to make locally grown food accessible and affordable to our wide spread community and to promote sustainable co-operative food production.

This project want to encourage families to be involved in the growing of their own fruit and vegetables.

Growing East Middlesbrough is a new three year project to increase the amount of food grown in the area, through a combination of allotment gardening and growing food at community locations, supported by a programme of community-based training and mentoring.
