Community Orchard: Plot 49

A community orchard will be developed on a hard to let plot. As development of an orchard is a long term commitment which requires capacity building in its early stages we will: * Organise a range of workshops/events at the allotment's green pavilion. For example: *Fruit growing workshops - developing skills on the site and to maintain healthy trees for the orchard. *Preserving workshop - showing younger people how to preserve food. *Apple Days: purchase a fruit press and other equipment to process fruit.

Many plot holders cannot handle the fallers from their trees (too many) but a fruit press would mean that we could use more of this fruit. We will also establish a bee hive on the allotment site, to improve pollination and provide an opportunity for people to learn about the importance of bees to our lives.
