It will also contribute to the promotion of healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. In the first year we will create and equip a flexible and environmentally sustainable community building to enable Sure Start Children’s Centres, schools and community groups to visit the farm, discover the pleasures of working on the land and gain practical experience of organic farming. The visits will form an introduction to organic food production that includes crop growing, animal reproduction/ nurturing, food preparation, cooking and eating.

School/community based food production will be supported through starter kits containing essential resources and learning materials. Outreach support will come from our Food Learning Facilitators and volunteers, dieticians and cooks. We will train and support a team of volunteers based at the farm but available to support groups in developing their own plots on school and community sites . We will provide training for volunteers, allotment holders and others who wish to grow organically.
